The 7th British International Mini Print Exhibition – Printmakers Council
Saturday May 15 – Sunday July 18

Represented by artists of 31 countries, this Printmakers Council exhibition presents miniature prints across all forms of printmaking, with over 230 prints on show, of which reprints are for sale.

The size of 70cm square centimetres is small and decisive when it comes to mini prints. Significantly smaller than other mini shows it poses a particular challenge. The artists have to be precise about what they are saying but also have to have something to say. There is no hiding place on this scale. The image can be used by the artist in several ways; a ‘sketch’ to examine an idea that may be developed later, a distillation of the essence of current work or a simple idea in a nutshell.

Most of the work was made specifically for this show as there are few miniaturists regularly working on this scale. There are examples of a wide variety of techniques including screen print, lithography, linocut, woodcut, etching, collagraph, drypoint and digital.

Accompanying the exhibition, will be two afternoon hands-on printmaking workshops as led by professional Printmaker Dan Pellowe:

Saturday 15 May (12pm, 1pm & 2pm) (the day the exhibition opens):
Dan will cover INTAGLIO processes that day, concentrating on drypoint with Aluminium and Perspex (he will also do embossing with mixed media).
10x places per hour slot.

Saturday 22 May (12pm, 1pm & 2pm)
Dan will cover relief techniques, including lino-prints and direct monoprinting.
10x places per hour slot.

Workshop places are £5 for a 45 minute taster session.
To book, speak to a member of staff at the Visitors Desk.
