The Lichfield Festival brings the best national and international artists and performers to the West Midlands each year for a summer celebration of classical music, dance, drama, film, jazz, literature, poetry, visual arts and world music.
We programme ticketed events in principal venues Lichfield Cathedral (capacity 900) and Lichfield Garrick Theatre (capacity 450) plus a range of other non-traditional venues including hotels, churches and community centres. In addition to ticketed performances, we also organize the Lichfield Festival Arts Market, the Festival Fireworks plus a range of participatory workshops. We also run a year round education programme in schools and community settings which provides people of all ages with an opportunity to explore their creativity.
The Festival attracts approximately 50,000 people each year and we are lucky to have a growing volunteer base of 150 people, 25% of whom are under the age of 26.
The Festival also organizes Lichfield Literature, an autumn weekend literature Festival, the fifth of which will take place in October 2010.
