1. General details

Job Title: Development and Consultation Leader – Conjunction 2010
Location: Stoke on Trent
Normal workbase: Work from Home or Stoke on Trent
Tenure: Commission (8 -12 days)
Salary: £1500

2. Job Purpose

Developing and to share knowledge with the Conjunction Steering Group to help achieve their short term objectives and to help prepare the steering group for implementing Conjunction strategy’s for 2010 and 2012. This will be focus on a several areas:

Developing the steering groups roles (relationship, communications, effective output)
Developing key skills with the steering group
Help implement the residence programme and evaluate the steering groups actions
Provide support for the lead into 2010

4. Main Activities

? To Develop the steering group’s aims and objectives in relationship to their roles, through away days
? To carry out several development days that test the steering group’s roles and responsiblities in order to get the steering group to work effectively
? To support the Steering Group in the development of a funding strategy for the longer term by developing guidance for project funding bids
? To aid the steering group with sound advice and ideas to develop a stronger project strategy for 2010 and 2012
? To provide support for planning and implementing a residencey as part of a lead-in event for Conjunction 2010.

5. Person Sought

Essential criteria:
? good standard of education, educated to at least A Level standard or equivalent
? relevant and proven administrative experience, with a knowledge of both operational and financial processes
? solution-orientated
? excellent organisational skills, including good time management, ability to assess priorities and organise work requirements accordingly, and the ability to undertake multiple tasks/projects and meet agreed deadlines
? high level of accuracy and attention to detail
? excellent interpersonal skills with previous experience of working in an environment requiring interpersonal sensitivity and confidentiality
? excellent written and oral communication skills
? self-motivated
? able to work on own initiative
? desire to expand scope of role and identify areas for process improvement

Desirable Characteristics:
? previous experience of working within an arts or higher education environment
? relevant professional qualification
? graduate
? project management knowledge
? a business background
? an interest in contemporary art
? experience of committee servicing

6. Fees

The Commission/Job is a fixed cost of £1500

The fee is to cover all related costs including travel and expenses.

This fee is expected cover between 8 – 12 full days work, we would like this budget to focus on the development and consultation/training of the steering group, the aid of supporting a pilot project (artist’s residencey), and to support the lead-in to conjunction 2010

7. Process

Applicatants are expected to apply for this position via email or post. Shortlisted applicatants will be notified and may be expected to attend an interview with the steering group between the following dates 29th March – 2nd April or due to time constraints may be done through a telephone interview.

Applicatants should supply a covering letter explaining why you wish to apply for this commission/job and a statement no longer 800 words and you will need to explain how your experience meets our four main objectives and please give examples of how you meet our criteria, a full CV must be provided.

Applicatants are also expected to show how they intented to spend the £1500 and how many days they could offer the steering group.

Shortlisted applicatants will be notified by 3rd April
The selected applicatant will be expected to start between the 3rd – 28th April
